Can I block/override/pause an iPhone panic restart? (thermalmonitord, Mic1, SE2020)
Have an iPhone SE2020 that restarts every 3 minutes after being dropped. The restarts are panic restarts from a thermalmonitord error, because the board can no longer detect Mic1. This is all fine and good, but it prevents me from making one last full backup from this otherwise working iPhone. I need a way to block or override the panic restarts long enough to make a backup. iCloud 5GB backup wasn't enough to back up 2.5GB of voice memos and another 2.5GB of text messages with photos plus everything else, so the iCloud backup is old. And it's also been awhile since we've had a full backup to the Mac. Photos are already backed up to Google Photos. I understand Apple wanting to let us know when a Mic isn't working, but it's super dumb to make the phone reboot repeatedly every 3 minutes to the point where you can't get your data off of the phone. So I hope there's some way to tell the kernel to hold off on the panic restarts? At least maybe for 10 or 15 minutes, long enough to make a backup before we recycle the phone since it's not worth the cost to fix (it would also need a new battery and screen to bring it up to snuff.)
Thanks to anyone who knows how to do this.
