early 2009 imac backlight inverter
Hello I’m wondering if anyone knows why the inverter would fail I checked the fuse and it’s fine and it’s getting 12v input
iMac, OS X 10.11

You'll have to google for a used backlight inverter board and then decide if it is worth the cost.
Art this point I’m just replacing the ccfl bulbs with a led strip with the leds close together

Yeah… and the engine on my 12 year old lawn mower still works fine, even though the transmission is shot…
Not every component fails at exactly the same time…
I'm going to guess that you are under 30, based on your remark. It was a bit snarky and uncalled for. Some of us still get good use out of our ancient IMAC and find that when it was designed and assembled, quality was put into it (unlike some today) New doesn't always = better, in fact, a lot of newer machines have design or assembly flaws, but these dinosaurs just keep on going and refuse to shut down. And that's a good thing because many of us don't have the funds to replace our machines with inflation going through the roof. I don't know that I would actually want to do that anyway since the only thing wrong with my machine is the backlight. I, myself, am relegated to a small disability check each month. So please, if you have nothing helpful to say, do not comment. We are seeking answers, not unconstructive remarks

I don't know what snarky remark keith1221 made but trying to resurrect a dinosaur computer is not a good use of funds. Getting an inverter off of eBay or similar is risky. You have no idea if it works or not and whether or not you can send it back if it doesn't work. Also a 2009 Mac can't run a system with a modern browser so it won't be able to access many websites with modern security protocols.
I appreciate your budget requirements and can suggest you consider a rebuild Mac from either Apple (w/a new Mac warranty) or from OWC (MacSales.com) w/a limited warranty (don't remember if it's 3 months or longer). OWC is considered the premier 3rd party hardware provider for Apple. Those are the only two sources I'd consider buying from.
Because it’s old…
