I can’t open picture sent by text

We understand you're unable to open MMS messages. To address this behavior, if you haven't already, quit the app, restart iPhone to refresh running processes, and open Messages. Make sure that you have the most recent update for your iPhone. This will include security and performance fixes that could address such issues: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If this affects a particular contact, ask them to resend the photo in a different format. You can also try deleting the contact thread and creating a new one: Delete messages on iPhone - Apple Support

It's important to note, this would result in loss of the data within that thread, unless you have a backup that you can restore from. If you're using iCloud for Messages, this would be removed from all devices that use that feature and you'd be unable to restore that data. You can check for both using the steps below:

Set up iCloud for Messages on all your devices - Apple Support

Provide additional details on what occurs when you try to open photos in Messages if this doesn't address the concern. Additionally, let us know if this is occurring with iMessages (blue) or SMS (green).
