Facebook Messenger Links Not Opening on IPad Air

Same, log out FB use messenger only, log on Facebook doesn’t work. Fine on my phone. Weird

Apple, did you find a fix for this yet? Or is it because of fb lost revenue? Please advise if you have a fix for this.

On my 9th gen iPad, a fb messenger link opens only to the fb home page, not the post. I have no problem with this on my iPhone however the issue persists on my iPad. Thank you.

This is also happening on my ipad. Being logged out of Facebook defeats the purpose of having messenger and Facebook linked. Apple: do you plan on having this fixed or is there a way to put in a ticket for it to be fixed? It is unacceptable in my opinion, considering how many people use their ipad specifically for social media.

Same. Interesting that this only happens on my iPad, but works perfectly on my android phone. Obviously this is an iPad problem that Apple need to correct. I haven’t tried logging out of my FB app, but don’t think I should have to do that every time I want to open a link between 2 supposedly linked apps!

Correct. My daughter, though, has 17 but the problem still exists. And my 5th generation isn’t one of those that will be able to get it in the future. There are loads that won’t be able to get it. But as it hasn’t fixed the problem, there’s no way I’m buying a new one

This is happening to me too. It is very frustrating. I can’t open links and the people I send something to, can’t open the link either. This has not happened in the past..only fairly recent.

from the lack of response from Facebook for a remedy, I’d say they do not care.

September 2023 and still the same problem as everyone has identified above. The workaround of signing out of FB before viewing messenger does work but this shouldn’t still be a problem with Apple’s iPads when it’s not a problem with the iPhones.

Tried all the fixes to no avail.

I am about ready to toss this iPad.

If my iPhone has access why not my iPad?

I am having the same issue. The issue is not isolated to my brand new iPad it is also on my old iPad. The new iPad I just updated the IOS to 17.0.3 and the issue is not resolved. I have changed my settings in messenger to open in an external browser and the link tries to open in FB app by only opening FB to the current page or main page if the app is not open. I think it is a FB issue, why, because I develop websites and when opening a web page on an iPad the flow is very different no matter what size iPad I test with the browser reacts differently on each one.

Been following this hoping Apple would see it and do a fix. They must want you to buy a new phone since people use that more than an iPad. It’s not right as I prefer an iPad and this problem should be fixed. Very aggravating. I have to resort to screen shots or sending the links through I Message and that doesn’t always work. Why does no one at apple respond to this? Are they really this oblivious?

I’m afraid this hasn’t helped me. I can’t open any links and haven’t been able to for months. Works perfectly fine on my apple phone but not iPad. Very frustrating. I went to Apple about it but virtually got told it’s not their problem. Wish someone could fix it.

Having the same issue, can’t open the links. Reconsidering my purchase of new iPad and iPhone, everytime they, upgrade the IOS it’s another issue. Now the batteries are catching on fire in the new ones. Hmmmm…
