Two Apple Studio monitors with a MacBook Pro

I just bought two large high-resolution Apple Studio monitors. I want to use them with my MacBook Pro. The set-up I am looking to achieve is to have the screen of my laptop as usual and to be able to move other items to one of the two monitors on the left or right of my laptop. When I plug both Thunderbolt cables into my laptop, the background image appears on both large monitors, but I can only move items to one of the monitors. The mouse arrow also does not work on that monitor. The Apple salesperson told me all that was needed was to plug each of the Thunderbolt cables into the USB-C ports of the laptop. I have done the laptop monitor firmware update. Am I missing something, or must I purchase additional hardware, such as an external multi-hub port?

After working with the settings, it appears that the Apple salesperson was correct when the display icons are arranged as follows and at the same height. Studio Display (2) on the left, MacBook Pro in the middle, and Studio Display (1) on the right. You may have to restart the laptop before it works correctly. Attached is a screenshot.
