iCloud for Windows ARM errors on First Run

Hey there all,

I've seen people post about this in the past, and get no answers. I'm successfully running Windows 11 Arm under VMware fusion, but I found that iCloud wouldn't run, throwing cryptic errors like the following:

I solved this(!!) by realizing that neither the MS Store, nor the iCloud installer looks for some missing Microsoft libraries, which you can download. They're pretty common, and most windows programs that have a normal windows installer will check for and install them, but this seems to be a glitch under Windows 11 (maybe it doesn't know how to install the ARM version yet.

If you get the latest version of the Visual C++ Redistributable Libraries from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 , (again, make sure you get the ARM version) it will fix this, the next time you start icloud.

I've reported this to apple as well, but their bug report form had limited space to type, and no way to upload images, and maybe I can help someone by posting here as well.

Note as well, that someone (TechnoGeezer) over at the VMWare community who is worth his weight in gold also put out a good guide with all kinds of "gotchas" for running alternate OSes under VMware (but they'll probably also apply to Parallels if that's your Jam).

That document is attached to this forum post: https://communities.vmware.com/t5/VMware-Fusion-Documents/The-Unofficial-Fusion-13-for-Apple-Silicon-Companion-Guide/ta-p/2939907

Hope these help someone!
