Sometimes a magnifying glass is visible on my MBP screen. It seems not to be tied to a specific app or program. I am curious what this means. What causes it and how to make it disappear.

Spotlight search is Command Spacebar

The place is indifferent, not a specific place. It appears halfway amd near the bottom of the screen
