Display goes black if I close and reopen my MacBook Pro

I recently had a logic board replacement and an upgrade to Ventura 13.3.1 (a). When I close the cover of my MacBook Pro, and then open it, the screen is black but the computer is still on (the touchbar is lit up, e.g.); I have to power off and reboot in order to see the display. I have adjusted all the settings to try to avoid the display sleeping, but nothing seems to help. Any thoughts?

Have you tried safe mode for troubleshooting? Does the problem persist in safe mode?

Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

NoteSafe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software as it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, and fonts not installed by macOS. It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which are automatically created again as needed.
