Unable to control volume on Samsung TV with Apple TV remote

I just set up a new Samsung QN85BD tv and cannot get my Apple TV 4K (1st Generation) to control the volume. The TV has CEC enabled and I have tried learning a new device in the remote settings but nothing happens during the learning process (no progress on the bar). Oddly enough the Samsung remote will control the Apple TV but it’s not as good of a remote as the Siri Remote. Any help is appreciated.

Press the TV button AND the volume down button at the same time and hold for 5+ seconds. Your remote will disconnect. Press a few buttons to reconnect it. This worked for me.

Thank you that worked for me! I did the "learn my device" and then after that held the TV and vol down button and it just started working...thank you!
