Volume control on 4K Apple TV not working

My volume control on my Apple TV 4K remote was working. I enabled CEC control to allow the tv to turn on and off with the Apple TV remote, now the volume controls won’t work. I keep playing with all the settings and it seems to be either power control works or volume control works, both won’t work at the same time.

Verify how the Apple TV remote controls volume, as specified in Settings.

Setting﹥Remotes and Devices﹥[ʜᴏᴍᴇ ᴛʜᴇᴀᴛᴇʀ ᴄᴏɴᴛʀᴏʟ] Volume Control﹥

﹥Auto via HDMI

﹥Receiver via IR

﹥TV via IR

﹥Off

‘Auto via HDMI’ will need support for that feature from the other device too.

‘TV via IR’ will control the volume for TV directly (not via the Apple TV box), presumably the same way as before enabling CEC.
