Trying to avoid being scammed with Apple Pay.
I’m a merchant and I like to know what are the ways apple pay can be a scam or fraud. Can you put a stolen card in your Apple Pay?

When thief/fraudulent user enters the card information into their iPhone, the bank has to verify the card. So, if reported stolen it wouldn’t happen. However, if not reported stolen, the verification continues and the bank sends an email to the number on file with the bank or a number is provided to call. The text would go to the card owners iPhone and not the thief’s. I do not know what the call entails. I would presume maybe security questions etc.
If it has not been reported stolen, yes. But once its reported stolen, then bank should not approve it when trying to add it to Apple Pay, and will likely decline the charge if its already been added and someone tries to use it to buy something. Just like they would if the used the physical card.
Its still verified and approved by the bank / card issuer.
I added a card this morning to my Wallet to confirm how it worked. I agreed to terms and conditions of bank issuing card and it came back with how did I want to confirm the card. I was given the choice of receiving a text via phone number attached to my account or making a phone to the number showing. I chose text and I immediately received a text, entered in space provided and then instantly confirmed and I was ready to go.
But I agree, some banks could be less secure. I would think banks would be proactive on respect to customer safety and security.
True, but they would need access to the card, take a picture of it front and back or write down all the numbers without being seen at all to have that.
Unlikely.
Don’t recall getting any email or call when adding my cards to Apple Pay, so would assume its very much bank dependent.
I do recall needing to confirm in my bank’s app the addition of one of the cards to Apple Pay, but cannot say if that is true for all cards and bank issuers.
I read somewhere if 2apple pay phones are near the reader when registering the transaction, it can confuse the transaction and might not go through and during some time after you would be able to delete the charge on your phone. Also, there is something about jailbreaking where it deletes all the Apple apps and you can put in any app that you want and this may be a danger to that. I don’t know. I was just trying to figure it out.
Ah, that’s different than what you were describing. This happens when you have a card in your Wallet in the iPhone and the same physical card is in a MagSafe wallet on the back of iPhone. What happens is the transaction gets charged to the wrong card, but the transaction still goes through. The merchant won’t have an issue, but the customer may be surprised because they didn’t have to use Face ID or Touch ID to verify purchase. But receipt will have last four digits of card used.
They really don’t need the card just the information. Right? So if they have the information the owner won’t know until they use it. Right?
That’s one of the reasons that use my Apple Card when I have to give up possession of my credit card.
I’ll give up a few reward points for greater safety and security.
Yes, but that’s not smart or ethical to go to jail
I’m not sure how that would work. What do you mean a transaction registering? If the transaction doesn’t go through, there’s nothing to delete. I don’t understand what you’re trying to explain.
When I said registering I meant while the transaction is going through the process in the reader.
