Does apple pay protect from scams?

If sending payments via apple pay, is the money protected from fraud

No payments are ever sent via Apple Pay. Federal Banking Regulations prevent that. Apple Pay on sends and receives encrypted data about cardholder, transaction and payment token. Funds are sent by banks, not Apple.


Apple is not a bank, it cannot approve or decline charges. The bank that approves the transaction is responsible for approving any fraudulent charges and providing fraud protection.


Apple Cash is separate and is administered by Green Dot Bank. They do not currently offer fraud protection.
