Can someone explain in simple terms the impact of Apple's decision to shut down Photo Stream.
It is not clear what actions I need to take to protect/secure my photos?

Apple published an article that will answer many questions you have about the My Photo Stream transition. We linked it below.
Essentially, if you don't already use iCloud Photos to sync your photos across devices, you can open Photos > Albums > My Photo Stream, and save the photos that you want to keep.
