iPhone 12 lag, loading time, running slow

Hello! My problem is that my iPhone 12 is running very slow. What does it mean?

It means that if I go to the home page, sometimes I have lag, or when I open an application then I have to wait much time to get load the application. And I refer to the basic iPhone applications not only the other apps like messenger, FB, IG, etc…

So my phone have bigger loading screen and lag. I don’t know what to do. I have reset my phone settings (I don’t want to erase all content because I don’t want to reinstall all my applications). I have restarted my phone with the hope that a restart will help me and the phone will run smoothly but didn’t changed anything. My phone still running slow, I have lag when I open an app or when I close it.

I have bigger latency time as well. For ex. I open the gallery, open an image and after 0.1-0.2 sec open it. I don’t know if I can explain it better.

I have an iPhone 12, IOS 16.5 (the newest), in the storage 39GB of 64GB is used so I have 25GB free space.

Three basic troubleshooting steps to perform (test after each attempt):

A) Try a "forced" restart of your device using these instructions: Put it on charge for at least half an hour, then, keeping it plugged in, use these gestures:

Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side (power) button. Only when the Apple logo appears (it might take 10-20 seconds), release that button (ignore all other screens that might appear, the one with the "slider" to turn the device off included).

B) If you can, check your battery status in Settings>Battery>Battery Health & Charging>Maximum capacity. If it is close to 83-80%, have it replaced as soon as possible, since it might have unpredictable behavior.

C) If the issue persists, something could have gone wrong during the latest update procedure.

I would try to install a fresh copy of iOS/iPadOS (the latest available/supported by your device model). To do this, create a full backup of your iPhone/iPad (1), then restore it to factory settings (you need a computer to perform this step) and, in the end, set it up as new (2).

When done, restore data from your previously made backup (3).

Follow the instructions provided in these support articles:

(1) How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch – Apple Support

(2) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support

(3) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

If the issue still persists, I suggest that you make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.
