iPhone13pro screen dims in bright sunlight

One of the common problems with the iPhone is how useless it can become when taking photos in bright sunlight at the beach. You virtually cannot see the subject matter, just a reflection of your face in the shiny glass. Yes, auto dim is turned off and brightness cranked to full. Phone is NOT hot and was pulled out of a cooler. Within 2 minutes the display dimmed and it became utterly useless. I have been told that it is Apple's iOS way to protect against overheats. Is there anything that can be done to get around this? The 13pro is supposed to have the latest and greatest in camera function. Perhaps Apple could direct their energies toward cooling their processor better than constantly improving camera function? It would be nice to be able to use the thing in bright sunlight for a change.

Hello jackfromestero,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

If you have confirmed that "Auto-Brightness" is disabled in Settings > Accessibility > Display & Test Size, and this issue continues, you'll first want to confirm that you are fully up to date using these steps: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If so, and this issue continues, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support directly to look in to this further and see what options are available. You can reach out to them here: Get Support

Take care!

Hello jackfromestero,

This covers steps to resolve the iPhone getting warmer or cooler than expected: If your iPhone or iPad gets too hot or too cold Which may help you to keep the iPhone within acceptable temperature range.

It sounds like you have an experience you may want to share with Apple. In these cases, we'd recommend providing any of your feedback using Apple's feedback website: Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Keep in mind, Apple reviews all feedback, but you may not hear back on any given. Apple does not request unsolicited ideas.

Hoping this helps you to explain your experience with Apple directly and express ways to improve the device in the future.

Take care.
