Why does my iPhone screen gets dim in sunlight and videos get brighter?

I can’t see anything with this dimming “feature”. I have everything adaptive off I turned all power saving features off and my screen will STILL DIM if it thinks the light has changed. I have turned off the eye tracking “features” and it only affected me no longer needing to “look fidelity in the eye” to open my app. Now in discord a video will brighten to a level of brightness and dim the background. This is not a discord only issue it’s an issue with iOS and video files. Definitely not pleased at all with the fluctuating screen brightness. It needs to be brighter in bright light but I guess dei hires at Apple now

If you are using your iPhone in direct sunlight and the sun is warming the phone to a dangerous level, so it reduces screen brightness to allow the phone to stay below its maximum operating temperature.

There’s also a physiological possibility; in bright sunlight the irises in your eyes close to protect your eyes from sun blindness. This will make anything you are looking at appear dimmer.

Have you seen the video problem with videos from other sources, such as Youtube? If it doesn’t happen with Youtube it really is a Discord issue.

And finally, do you have Automatic Brightness enabled in Settings/Accessibility/Display & Text Size/Auto-Brightness?
