Facetime Audio output

When I'm calling people on Facetime from my M2 Macbook Air, the audio does not output through my airpods. All other audio output plays to the airpods but the Facetime audio stays playing through the speaker. The volume also will not change when this occurs. The audio coming through the speaker (the Facetime) continues at the volume it was before I connected the device, and changing the volume only affects the audio on the airpods. I was curious if anyone has had a similar issue to this, and if so how they solved it.

Hi _Pandas123,

The settings you need to review and adjust are outlined in the support article Choose a camera or microphone for FaceTime calls on Mac:

"In the FaceTime app  on your Mac, make a selection from the Video menu.

  • Choose Use System Setting for your microphone or audio output device.

If you select this, FaceTime uses the audio devices set in the Output option in Sound settings. See Change the sound output settings.

  • Choose a specific camera, microphone, or audio output device.

Note: You can also use the rear-facing camera on your iPhone as a webcam in FaceTime. See Use your iPhone as a webcam.

If no devices are listed in the Video menu, FaceTime uses the built-in camera, microphone, and speakers. See Use the built-in camera."

Review these settings for FaceTime to ensure the proper output device is selected to play audio as desired.

Regards.
