Hi!

I bought my first ipad, my only pple device, the other day. While using it, I got seduced by an Atlantic article headline on the Apple News app. Clicking on it, I was notified I could only access it through Apple News plus. So I agreed to subscribe, one month free and $9.99 /mo after June 28, a month from now. I thought I might keep it since it seems to include many magazines. But I still can't access the article. What am I doing wrong? The article is about MSG not being as harmful as previously believed.

I solved it! I had smart invert on, and the articles were all there - white text on white background! I turned off smart invert and the articles appeared!

Turn on News in iCloud settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple ID on all your devices.
Do one of the following:

- iOS 16, iPadOS 16.1, or later: Tap Show All, then turn on News.
- iOS 15, iPadOS 15, or earlier: Turn on News.

Thank you, it was already turned on. Atlantic articles display only a headline, lead line, and author with a background graphic. Articles themselves are not accessible, unless there's a special 3 finger gesture or I have to restart the device (I'll try to restart now).

👍 Ah OK, the Smart invert is the reason that you got white text on white background.
