Calendar app not working with Ventura

I really enjoyed the Calendar app, perfectly syncing across all my devices: 3 Macs, iPhone, iPad (shared via iCloud), synchronized with Mail, Zoom, etc. However, after the installation of Ventura (even after all updates, currently I have 13.3.1 (a)), the app does not work at all on any of the 2 updated Macs (noth minis). It is not just a syncing problem - an empty calendar s shown, I cannot add any event nor account. Everyting still works fine on Macbook (with Monterey) and iPhode+iPad.

None of the usual suggestions (swiching iCloud account off/on, restarting , waiting..) helps. What else can I do?

Mac mini, macOS 13.3

The current stable release of Ventura including bug fixes, security updates is macOS Ventura 13.4 —I would start there

There is a possibility that something is messed in your user account. The following procedure may help (but there is no guarantee).

  1. Make sure to have a BACKUP
  2. Log out from your usual account - let's call it "me" to simplify
  3. Log in to your SECOND admin account
  4. In System Settings->Users & Groups, select "me" and click Delete Account...
  5. When asked, choose "Don't change the home folder"
  6. In the Finder, press Command-Shift-H to go to the home folder, and then Command-UpArrow to move one level up
  7. There you will see "me (Deleted)". Rename it so that is again called "me"
  8. Back in System Settings, add a new account, and give it exactly the same name as your deleted account (what we have been calling "me" for the sake of example)
  9. You will be asked if you want to reuse the existing home folder. Confirm that.

Now try logging in to your account and see if things have changed. At best, you'll be fine; at worst, nothing has changed.

This system has been upgraded in place over many years, and across different macs.

This eventually causes things to break, as stuff that was made in 2009 is not going to work well in 2023 - especially given that there was not just a number of new versions in between but also a transition to a completely different architecture.

Here is what I recommend.

1) Make sure to have a full up to date Time Machine backup - actually, it is best to have two backups.

2) In System Settings->General->Transfer & Reset, click "Erase All Content and Settings" - CAUTION: this will remove all the user accounts and applications, and data - but keep the OS intact, as it is in a separate read-only volume.

3) After your mac restarts, it will act as if it was starting for the first time. When asked, choose to import "From another mac, drive or Time Machine backup" - BUT CRUCIALLY, elect to migrate ONLY the user accounts. This will leave behind all system modifications.

4) Install the stuff you do use, and enjoy your new and performing mac.

To be clear, you chose "erase all content and settings", let the mac restart, and then migrated just the user accounts and nothing else?

If this is the case, then I suspect that the issue may be something in the user account.

Two tests:

1) Does it work if you start in Safe Mode?

2) If you create a new admin user account, does Calendar work in that account when booted normally?

Yes, I did the migration exactly as advised: "erase all content and settings", migrated just the user accounts and nothing else.

The results of the suggested tests:

1) Calendar does not work in Safe Mode either, but

2) everything works perfectly in a new admin user account!

Is there a way to remedy my existing user account or I really need to start from scratch with a new account??
