Apple Watch, WatchOS software updates

hi, I bought an Apple Watch series 7 GPS only model, 2 years ago. when the new watches get released around Sept time I'm going to buy a 2gen Apple Watch Ultra and going to give my 7 series to my sister, just interested to know what is the lifespan of my 7 series Watch in terms of software updates from Apple?

No one here can tell you the answer to such a question.


Because the Watch series 4 can still run the latest version of watchOS, it's safe to say the series 7 will have a few years to go before its put out to pasture as a legacy device.
