Apps showing OPEN in app store instead of download

already deleted the app via “iphone storage”, now i can’t reinstall it.

i’ve tried everything and i have enough storage to have it on my phone

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 15

If you search for the app on your iPhone see an icon similar to my profile image here, you have an app stuck between installed and uninstalled.


Only way to resolve that is with a backup, factory reset, and restore.


Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support (includes links to backup and restore)

As for the reset, the only way I’ve performed that is with a computer. Supposedly, current versions can erase locally. I’ve not tried an iCloud restore to a reset device, and am uncomfortable recommending that path.

Alternatively… If you do not have and cannot borrow a Mac or Windows PC, contact Apple Support, and bring it in to the local Apple Store or Apple authorized repair provider.


PS: The only way to mark data as being valuable is with backups.
