Same issue with Lullaby notification no longer playing at wind down time

I saw this question: Focus used to play a short Lullaby when wind down was to begin. That no longer happens and I can’t find a setting to bring it back. Can anyone help? This was posted on Jan 17 2022. The reply was not at all useful. I have exactly the same issue - I had begun to get my sleep pattern under some sort of control, I set the watch so that at 14 minutes past 11 every night a short lullaby played then one minute later the watch shut down. Then the OS was updated and I can no longer set the wind down warning for one minute before needed and the lullaby no longer exists. Last night I didn't notice the watch had gone dark and it was midnight before I tried to sleep. I just stay awake and find work to do. The watch was disciplining me and helping me take back control of some quality sleep.

Why can't someone answer these very simple questions - why has the warning chime (lullaby stopped sounding and why can I only set the wind down warning 15 minutes or more before needed?

Thank you, thank you - someone who cares enough to offer support. I have at last sorted this issue and fell back in love with my Apple watch, which is a very useful item to have in my life.

The answer for anyone who is looking for it is simple:

Pull up your watch screen and you'll see a symbol of a bell. It needs to be grey. If you touch it, it turns it off - goes red and has a diagonal line through it. This is the only place to turn that little chime on.

My big complaint now is that when apple did the last OS update they changed the timer settings so the wind down starts at 15 minutes, there are no longer any minute increments. It chimes fifteen minutes before going to sleep and in those few short minutes I get up to all sorts and forget the time. "Just one more game, or just one more chapter" and before I know it I should have been asleep half an hour earlier.

Your assistance is appreciated. Good luck.

We are all Apple users, like yourself, in this community, so likely no-one here has any explanation for what Apple does, or why Apple does what it does.

Sorry I do not have an Apple Watch handy to check out the wind down time for you:

Wondering which Watch OS update you installed: Watch OS 9 is the newest update.

I do not know if anything below will help you to return to your previous settings ... flexibility seems to be a requirement for technology, as it is always moving ahead.

Apple support's article for WatchOS 9

Track your sleep with Apple Watch – Apple Support

says:

    1. Open the Sleep app  on your Apple Watch.
    2. Tap Full Schedule

✽. Change Wind Down time: Tap Wind Down, then set the amount of time you want the Sleep Focus to be active before bedtime.

✽. The Sleep Focus turns off the watch display and turns on Do Not Disturb to

reduce distractions before your scheduled bedtime.

You can:

Adjust your wake time and bedtime:

Tap your schedule, tap Wake Up or Bedtime,

turn the Digital Crown to set a new time, then tap

Set the alarm options: Tap your schedule, then turn Alarm off or on

and tap Sound & Haptics to choose an alarm sound.

Change sleep options

  1. Open the Settings app  on your Apple Watch.
  2. Tap Sleep, then adjust these settings:
    • Turn On at Wind Down: By default, the Sleep Focus begins at the wind down time you set in the Sleep app. If you’d prefer to control the Sleep Focus manually in Control Center, turn this option off.
    • Sleep Screen: Your Apple Watch display and iPhone Lock Screen are simplified to reduce distractions.
    • Show Time: Show the date and time on your iPhone and Apple Watch while the Sleep Focus is active.

The complete article (from the blue link above) gives a lot more options and settings.

(You can also change these sleep options on your iPhone.

Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, tap My Watch, then tap Sleep.)

Thank you kindly for your kind and thoughtful reply, grandma m.

Grateful for your tip on turning that little chime on, it may help others.

Wondering if it would help to add a different alarm to repeat at 14 minutes after 11 every night. Eg: In the alarms app:

How to: Add an alarm on Apple Watch – Apple Support

says:

  1. Open the Alarms app  on your Apple Watch.
  2. Tap Add Alarm.
  3. Tap AM or PM, then tap the hours or minutes.

This step is unnecessary when using 24-hour time.

Turn the Digital Crown to adjust, then tap .To turn the alarm on or off, tap its switch.

Or tap the alarm time to set repeat, label, and snooze options.

Tip: To create an alarm that taps your wrist, but doesn’t make a sound, turn on silent mode.

Cheers :-)
