Unable to find screenshots taken on MacBook Pro

When I take a screenshot on a macbook, the photo is not saved anywhere, but the sound of the snapshot is there. The only place where a screenshot sometimes appears after the snapshot is in the clipboard.There is no information about this problem on the Internet.What could be the problem?

Press cmd shift 5, change Options to how you would like screen shots saved.

When you initiate the shot, where you save it to is under "Options" in the control panel.
