heic photos

I got sent via text photos in the .heic format and I can’t download or view them. What’s the fix. I have an iPhone 12 Pro and the latest software.

Thanks for the reply. I cannot download the photo from the messages app and when I press on it I can reply or select more. When more is selected, the only option is to delete it.
