FTP not connecting

I have 5 different programs; Rapidweaver, Sighthound, FileZilla, ForkLift and Reolink that all have FTP capabilities. Two of the five *(Sighthound and Reolink) respond with the 503 error (incorrect user/pw) when testing my FTP setup. This is despite using the exact configuration on each.

The only thing I can imagine is that Mac OS (13.4) is blocking or changing something with the two that won't work. I'm hoping there is a smaht (I'm from Massachusetts) person out there to offer suggestions.

Thanks,

Traj

So what is the magic fix? This is clearly a Sonoma issue. I've over 25 years as a workstation technician. Cyberduck and Forklift are my mains. The continue to work on my older macbook pro. Fail miserably after installing Sonoma. Removed and readded each, same issue. They just aren't passing information that allows me to login on my FTP accounts. Contacting another vendor isn't an answer or is it helpful. Just google the issue and you will find that practically every FTP package is having issues since Sonoma.

Reolink and Sighthound are the ones I am really concerned with. They have built-in FTP to upload the data they create and that's why I don't use a regular FTP program for them.
Thanks.

If in doubt refer to the developers website; Support/Help/FAQ/known issues/compatibility /updates/uninstall:

Why so many ftp clients...? You only need one.

I would use what works.

You can try adding your client to Full Disk Access if it is a permission issue to access is restricted, and compare your results.

>System Setting>Privacy & Security>Full Disk Access

I realised this thread is almost half a year old but after 2 days of searching for answers on google, your situation seemed closest to mine. About 2 weeks ago, I migrated from a 2015 MBP (Intel Big Sur) to a 2021 MBP (M1 Sonoma). I have the exact same apps installed as my older mac, same network settings etc. Everything was running fine on my newer mac until I decided to pull up Forklift and it just wouldn't connect to the server, giving me a 'Host not found' error each time.

Puzzled, I decided to fire up my older macbook and Forklift just worked fine in there. So I knew the problem has to do with the new Macbook, but I just couldn’t locate the problem.

After messing with my firewall and DNS settings without much luck, I installed and tried a slew of other FTP clients. Some worked and some didn’t.

Apple’s own ‘Connect to Server’ feature failed.

Filezilla works only on FTP TLS but not with FTP, plus it crashed after some time

CloudMounter failed

Cyberduck works only on FTP

Commander One works only on FTP

Ironically, once Commander One connects to the server successfully, Forklift will be able to view the server and transfer the files. It just wouldn’t connect to the server with its own ‘Connect’ feature.
