Magic Mouse says Connection Rejected

I know this question was posed already back in 2021 but the tips that were provided at that time didn't work for me. My Magic Mouse died a week and a half ago. I charged it for a day and worked on my laptop without it. I reconnected it and it worked fine for a few days but then I sat back down to my computer this weekend and it wasn't working. I thought maybe somehow I hadn't charged it long enough so I plugged it back in for another day. But it still will not connect.

I've tried turning it on and off several times. I tried the "hardwiring" via a USB to Lightning cable and when I do, it says Connected - Charging, but then when I unplug it, it says Disconnected. I double click it again and it says Connection Rejected again. I don't know what else to do.

These darn things don't have any indicator lights on them to know if something is wrong. I use this mouse 5 days a week, 8-10 hours a day and sometimes on the weekends too.

I have an old hard wire laser printer on my desk (not Bluetooth), a LogiTech wireless keyboard, my apple iPhone (usually), a pair of AirPod Pros (on the opposite side of the desk from my mouse) and a ReMarkable (also on the opposite side of the desk from my mouse and generally it's sleeping anyway). Other than that, I have no other electronics on my desk.

Any OTHER suggestions?

Maybe, jmilkyway…. Do you have an Intel or m1/m2 Mac? If it’s the first one, try this link: https://www.macworld.com/article/224955/how-to-reset-a-macs-nvram-pram-and-smc.html … other than that, have a regular USB wired mouse plugged in( pretty much any usb wired will do) go to the Bluetooth menu ( looks sorta like a capital “B”) click on it, then click on the cog to get to options, then reset Bluetooth, also, click on the Magic Mouse Bluetooth entry and “forget” it… restart your Mac… turn your Magic Mouse off while it’s restarting… when it’s restarted, turn the Magic Mouse on, plug in the usb to lightning cable… do the mouse setup thing under system preferences, should be recognized, try it cordlessly… Bluetooth may be susceptible to interference, too… maybe the mouse went bad ?

To provide clarification, I’m on a MacBook Pro. I ended up not needing to do any of this. I cleared my disk space, updated the software and now my mouse is working. Magically the Magic Mouse has magic. Lol.
