preserve subject when forwarding email

I'm not sure if this is a change or if I have just noticed it, but when I forward mail in the Mail program it loses the existing email subject, sending email with blank subject.

Is there a way to have the incoming email subject preserved and included in the forwarded email?

I looked in rules but not obvious how to do if at all possible.

macOS 12.6.6, Mail Version 16.0, MBP Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015.

TIA.

That is unusual.

When I forward an e-mail, the subject is the same, with "Fwd: " stuck in the front. That has always been that way, since I can remember, and continues to be in Monterey, and now Ventura...

I don't think there is even a preference to change this behavior.

As a test, try forwarding a message while running your mac in Safe Mode. Same problem?

Then restart normally again. Sometimes just this restarting in Safe Mode and back again can fix some odd behaviors.

A bit more information about this puzzling bug which deletes the subject line when you forward emails by right -clicking. I noticed it was happening with some emails but not others, and a bit of investigation revealed that the bug only manifests itself when forwarding a chain of emails. If it's the only email, the forwarding works fine and the subject line is preserved. But as I said in an earlier post, you can get round it by clicking on the forward arrow symbol instead of right-clicking, in which case, the subject line is preserved as it should be. Weird or what?

Thanks for those additional suggestions BDAqua, but as it's only a minor irritation and I know how to get round it, I think I'll leave it alone for now, because if I start uninstalling and reinstalling things it's likely to cause more harm than good.

This has just started happening to me too in the last few days, no apparent reason why. Unfortunately your proposed solution didn't work for me but I found a different workaround. The problem only happens if you right-click on the message in order to forward it. If you click on the little forward arrow symbol instead, it works fine. If anyone knows an explanation / fix I'd be interested to hear.
