Old AIM account auto switched email to a now compromised email address itunes purchases "cannot be found"

I have purchases I made in Itunes for about 300 songs pre-dating 2008. I think, I used and aim or an aol account. The current file information for those songs shows my name and an old email address that I am sure was associated with an apple id at some point. Then again, maybe I'm not sure because I don't actually remember if I ever used an apple id with the old email address that I created in 1993/1994. Either way, the purchases clearly show in the file information that I made them (my name) and an old email address that used almost exclusively between 1993/94 and 2006/7/8. I have been through it with media purchases and all they will tell me is that there is no apple id associated with the old email address so they can't find them to unlock them. They asked for purchase ids or numbers which of course I do not have. But, I have the fact that I purchased them (my name) and that they were purchased with an old email that I can and have proven was my email address until it was compromised in 2010/11/12. I didn't use it anymore so it was not a huge deal except for now. I think that it's possible that the an old aim account was tied to that old email address and then at some point when you couldn't purchase through itunes using and aim/aol account it defaulted to that old email. I am not sure what to do but I'm pretty frustrated that $400+ worth of songs that I purchased are no available to me. I have spent 100's of thousands of dollars on everything that is apple for decades. It's this kind of thing that pushes me further and further away. Frankly, if I had it all to do again, I never would have been an Apple guy, I would have been a PC guy and I am at the point where I tell everyone that they are almost exactly the same except for the fact that you have to pay 10x as much for an Apple as you do a PC. Restore my faith please. It's literally been one thing after another.
