Hello otherwillsmith,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.
For unknown software like this, start by identifying and stopping the software using the Activity Monitor: Quit an app or process in Activity Monitor on Mac.
You may also want to remove any apps on your Mac that may be starting this software. Go here for more information: Uninstall apps on your Mac.
Cheers!
Hey otherwillsmith,
At this point, we would recommend reaching out to Apple Support. They will have the necessary tools to investigate into this matter more with you: Apple Support.
Take care.
With no apps running, after a fresh reboot and no apps allowed to start upon login, the ecologist-helper ramps up every minute or so and takes up 90% of my processor according to Activity Monitor. I’ve tried every Fox I can find from the plethora of articles surrounding this “known issue” and nothing has any effect. Please don’t patronize me.
