OS 13.4 Optimize Your Mac

After updating to OS 13.4, there was a notification on the top, right, "Optimize Your Mac: your storage and battery performance may be affected until you complete this." But it didn't specify how to optimize my Mac. Am I supposed to take additional steps after the OS 13.4 installation? I have optimize battery charging turned on.... I'm on a 2023 MacBook Pro 16" M2 Max.

You don't have to do anything. It is informing you that it is optimizing things in the background. All you have to do is dismiss the notification. It will not go away on its own, and it is not a progress indicator.

I have the same problem, after using migration assistant to transfer the contents of my 2013 Macbook Pro (Catalina OS - this model can't be upgraded futher) to a newer, clean 2019 Macbook Pro (Ventura OS). The migration (about 350GB) took a few hours, but when I signed in to the newer Macbook, I got the "Optimising your Mac - perfomance and battery life may be affected until completed" message. This has continued for 24 hours so far. You say above "All you have to do is dismiss the notification." but I can't, as the screen only shows my User name and a circling wheel - there is nothing to dismiss. Is there a way I can continue using the macbook or do I have to wait till it's finished?
