Disk utility
My hard disk doesn't show in disk utility. I previously tried erasing it in order to reinstall mac os on it. I stopped in the middle of the process and turned of the laptop. How do I repair the missing disk

It really helps to know the exact model of your Mac and how you erased the drive. These details are very important especially these days when there are so many different Macs which behave very differently (Apple Silicon Macs, recent 2018+ Intel Macs, older Intel Macs, really old Intel Macs, etc.). It also helps to know the version of macOS being installed. If you happen to be accessing an older macOS installer, then it may not be able to recognize the drive layout & file systems used by later versions of macOS.
Within Disk Utility you may need to click "View" and select "Show All Devices" before the physical drive appears on the left pane of Disk Utility. The physical internal drive should appear as the top most item (under "Internal" as well) and will usually be identified by its make & model.
