Whatsapp freezes 3 seconds after opening it iOS16.5

Hi there, for two days now my WhatsApp opens but almost immediately freezes.

So I cannot connect it with my Whatsapp Web which previously worked at least, but after uninstalling and reinstalling it, Wtsp Web is of course disconnected and now I cannot use it at all.

It must be related to the iPhone, as it worked at least on Whatsapp Web.

There's enough storage available, everything else was also checked as recommended on other websites, and before making an entire iPhone reset and loosing data, I'd like to see what you'd recommend.

Sad fact, even if downloaded, Whatsapp doesn't even appear as app in the list of apps I have downloaded (the page where you can manage updates) in the app store, so it's like a ghost.

Hope you can help!

Thank you

Erik

Hi Erik, I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having with WhatsApp. You’ve already tried several troubleshooting steps, but let’s see if we can find a solution. Here are a few additional things you could try:

1. Force Close the App: If you haven’t done so already, try to force close the WhatsApp application. To do this, swipe up from the bottom of your screen, then swipe left or right to find WhatsApp, and swipe it up off the screen.

2. Restart Your Device: A simple restart can sometimes resolve issues with apps. Turn your iPhone off and then back on to see if that helps.

3. Check for Updates: Make sure your iOS and WhatsApp are up-to-date. Sometimes app issues can be related to needing a software or app update.

4. Offload the App: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > WhatsApp > Offload App. This will uninstall the app but keep your data. Then reinstall it from the App Store.

5. Check App Permissions: Make sure that WhatsApp has the necessary permissions enabled, such as access to your camera, microphone, and photos.

If none of these steps work, backing up your iPhone and performing a factory reset might be the last resort. This is a major step, so make sure you have all your important data backed up before doing so.

Thank you for the help, unfortunately I tried everything, and nothing worked.

I already uninstalled it several times, installed it again, and then it freezes again after around 3 seconds, or doesn't even open.

I also contacted Whatsapp to see what it might could be, but this happened out of nowhere.

I did not do any update or change, it just froze and from there continued to freeze on my iPhone.

On Whatsapp Web it worked fine, but I of course don't have my laptop with me all the time.

What other options are there, excluding an entire reset of the iPhone as I don't want to lose information.

Hi,

I switched to an iPhone from an Android 2 months back that was the biggest mistake.Since then I have been facing the same issue for a long time. My WhatsApp is getting frizzed and I am also not able to make any calls. I tried multiple times WhatsApp and Apple support but have not found a resolution yet. The storage part is if I put my iPhone in flight mode then it does not freeze. I am getting frustrated as it is the most useful application.

You can try to make a force restart for your iPhone. Force restart fully powers off your phone and restarts it, so all your apps, contacts and other important information remains intact.

When you open an app it will be like when you first downloaded it, but the difference is is that your account, data remain intact (you don’t have to log in again).
