When your iPhone displays a message saying “SIM is locked, 2 attempts remaining,” it means that the SIM card has been locked due to the incorrect entry of the PIN (Personal Identification Number) and you have 2 attempts left before the SIM becomes PUK-locked.

The PIN is a security feature provided by the carrier to protect your SIM from unauthorized use. If the wrong PIN is entered too many times, the SIM card gets locked and you’ll need a PUK (PIN Unlock Key) code to unlock it.

Here’s what you can do:

1. If you know your PIN: You can unlock your SIM by entering the correct PIN. You have two more attempts to do it right.

2. If you don’t remember your PIN: Contact your carrier. They can provide you with the PUK code to unlock your SIM card.

It’s crucial not to randomly guess the PIN or PUK code because if you enter the PUK code wrong too many times, the SIM card may permanently lock and you would need a new SIM card from your carrier.

Once you have the PUK code, you can enter it into your phone to unlock the SIM. After that, you might want to disable the SIM PIN to prevent this issue from reoccurring in the future, but keep in mind it will also disable that layer of security for your SIM card.

Remember, each carrier may have slightly different procedures, so it’s a good idea to check their specific guidance.
