How to get refund from Apple.com bills?

I have several billings to my credit card with Apple.com/billing/hollyhill.

I do not recognize this purchases, how do I get a refund?

It’s impossible to say if the charge is legitimate or not. Many scammers put the name of large companies in their invoices and receipts in an attempt to fool/trick the consumer. It’s possible this is a scam or that your bank account has been compromised.

These may be purchases by family members if you are an organizer of a Family Sharing group, or possibly a second Apple ID you use. "When you sign in to your financial institution website or mobile app and view your recent purchases from the App Store, iTunes Store, Apple Books, or for Apple Music or iCloud services, you may see an option—such as View Receipt—that allows you to view more details about your transaction."


Other possibilities to consider (not all may apply in your situation):

● Purchases can be made with your ID if your Apple ID is compromised (read what to do ➞ If you think your Apple ID has been compromised - Apple Support ) or somebody else has access to your device (require a purchase password as explained in this article ➞ Require a password for App Store and iTunes purchases - Apple Support ).

● If you only see a charge in emails or texts that are not official Apple receipts, it is likely phishing attempts (see the article: Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support ).

● If you are absolutely certain neither you, nor Apple, nor a Family Sharing member can account for a charge and it ONLY appears on a bill for a charge card you alone control, you may have been the victim of card fraud. Contact your financial institution.

● Small amounts of ~$1 may be an authorization hold that will be refunded (pending charge ➞ How apps, content, and subscriptions from Apple are billed - Apple Support ).

● Unanticipated amounts may be grouped charges ( How apps, content, and subscriptions from Apple are billed - Apple Support ).

If a Family Sharing member made the purchase then you need to discuss this with that person. They would have to initiate any refund request.


If a reporting a problem request is unsuccessful or you have another issue you can also speak with Apple ➞ Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support

Select your country (if you do not see your country, also look for "other" regions; e.g., "Other Africa"), then "Choose a product". Click the "show" item under each category for more selections. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

Many scammers put the name of large companies in their invoices and receipts in an attempt to fool/trick the consumer. First view your Purchase History here:

View your purchase history for the App Store and other Apple media services - Apple Support


If you are unable to see the charges there then follow up with Apple directly to see if they are legitimate charges.

Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support


If the charges are not legitimate then you will need to take up the issue with the bank that provided your card. They will start an investigation that will likely involve cancelling your current card and issuing you a new one. If this is an email you received and not the actual statement from your credit card company, then it could also be a phishing attempt.

This is not Apple Support. Please do not post any personal or financial information. This is public discussion forum. It’s possible your credit card that was charged is compromised. You may want to review the information at this link to determine if the transaction is fraudulent.

Please follow the link in the article and check for any valid subscription or purchase you might have made and forgotten about.


If the charge does not show after reviewing the information. Please contact the fraud department at the bank that issued the credit/debit card used for the fraudulent transaction. The phone number to contact them is usually printed on the back of the card.

Who has your Passcode? A purchase in the App Store requires a person to double click the side button, followed by authentication using FaceID/TouchID or Passcode. If you give someone else your Passcode, you are authorizing them to use your device and that includes purchases. Have you changed your Passcode yet?

If you used a free trial and did not cancel it before the trial period ended, then you did agree to be charged for the subscription.

View or cancel app subscriptions on iPhone - Apple Support (PH)


You will need to cancel any subscriptions purchased through the App Store on your device. This includes any Free Trials that you started and did not cancel.

If you do not see them there, then you must follow the valuable information provided by Katana-San, as it would appear the your credit card has been compromised and someone is making fraudulent purchases. As an additional measure you can contact Apple directly to verify if the charge is legitimate here: Contact Apple.


If you do see the charges in your Purchase History or Subscriptions, then either you or someone else made an Authorized charge on your phone. When a purchase is made on your device, you must authorize the purchase with either FaceID/TouchID or Passcode. Authorized charges can be from:

  • Giving your Passcode to someone else. This not only allows them to unlock your phone, but also gives them permission to make purchases. There are steps you can take to require a password for purchases, but that is something you would have to do first, as Apple recommends that you do not share your Passcode with others.
  • If you are an Organizer of a Family Plan, other Family members can make purchases and they will show up on your payment method if you are using Purchase Sharing.
  • A free trial subscription may have been started and was never cancelled. If a Free Trial is not cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial period ends, you will automatically be billed for the subscription and it will auto renew until you cancel it.

  • Did you determine if the are legitimate Apple charges by viewing your purchase history?
  • As a last resort you can contact Apple directly to verify if they are not found in your purchase history.


All the links to do this have been supplied already in this thread, so if you determined they are not legitimate charges by Apple, then you will need to contact your bank because your card had been compromised.
