Apple Music Preview immediately crashes on windows 11

So I've downloaded the Apple Music preview app. 1st time I open it, it lets me accept the terms and conditions, then shows a blank screen, then crashed to desktop. Now every time I open it, it shows a black screen and crashes to desktop.

I've tried re-installing, rebooting, updating. Nothing seems to work.

After the last update I am also crashing on Windows. I have managed to get it "working" when it launches you briefly see the UI before the crash, for me "Listen Now" was selected, I quickly clicked another navigation item before the the crash. Now I can open the app, however the first launch doesn't populate data for me, so I closed the app and reopen and now I can play music as long as I don't select "Listen Now" again.

Happening on Windows 10 as well. I am able to play music, but it usually crashes within 10 minutes. Here is what shows up in Event Viewer for the crash.

Well, I have been waiting for a fix for this issue since July when I got my very first iPhone ever. Was a Samsung user for years then switched to Pixel. Never had any issues with using any apps across my Android phones and PC. Guess Apple is not serious about making this a thing. I am sure they would prefer you purchase a Mac.

iTunes app for PC works fine. Apple Music works fine in Chrome and Edge browser.

Anyone find a fix yet?

Same here.

New Windows 11 laptop, 64 GB Memory, 2 TB Storage (600 GB free), Core i7, 'clean' up-to-date install of Windows 11 Home 2 weeks ago, default Windows Defender anti-virus, zero unusual software installed.

Reproduced crash 11 times across Windows restarts and reinstall of Apple Music from Microsoft Store:

  • Open Apple Music
  • search for The Cure
  • select Artist
  • scroll to bottom of Artist page
  • crash

Forces me to confront my CHOICE to pay CDN$25+tax/month for Apple One (incl Music, iCloud 200 GB, TV+, etc) when both the free AND paid tiers of Spotify work perfectly.

Hi Jon_Padders!

Apple Music for Windows v1.3.0.54 (1.768.13825.0) - released to the Microsoft Store on or around 27 June 2023 - has fixed the reproducible crash I described above, too!

The 2+ weeks that Apple Music wasn't working forced me to use Spotify for Windows and I have zero complaints.

I was able to mimic my Apple Music experience by uploading some LP rips from 30+ years ago which have never made it to the catalogues of any of the streaming services. I forgot they were not available from Apple Music or Spotify but it was easy to upload them.

I have the latest version of Apple Music and I have an Apple One subscription. It was working great over the past week, today when I opened it and clicked Listen now it closes immediately. Try to open and it just closes. Tried re-installing it, and it worked on preview, but as soon as I logged in It crashed again. Working fine on my iPhone, not sure what the issue is. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Dallas

I also have the same problem, with the latest update, Music wont even start at all. Theres just a window popping up for a second, after that it disappears as nothing would have happened and Music is not running. I am running a Lenovo Thinkpad P15 Gen 1, 1,5TB SSD, 64GB RAM, Intel Xeon, Windows 11 Pro for Workstations 23H2.

Previous releases of Music did start every now and then, but since last update no chance at all to get it running. Very disappointing.

Same here, using a single 4K display (Samsung Odyssey G7) connected to an Nvidia RTX 3090 graphics card I was getting an immediate black screen when trying to navigate the app. System was non-responsive and had to hard reboot. I was having this issue with both the Apple Music app as well as the Apple Music Web Player running in Chrome. For me this was the clue that something about how the music is playing is crashing the graphics driver as the Web Player in Chrome would crash only once I started playing a song. Black screen but the music continued to play - so WinOS was still functional.

I went in, updated graphics driver and switched my monitor to refresh rate of 120Hz from the original 60Hz setting and this solved the problem. Now everything works fine.
