Apple TV wont use subwoofer while playing music

I just bought an Apple TV, A2843, and connected to to my receiver, Sony STR-DH790, and while playing music thru Apple the Apple Music app it won’t use my subwoofer at all. I’ve verified that the subwoofer works with other inputs and even works when watching movies thru the Apple TV, it only doesn’t work when watching music, does anyone know what’s happening?

As the music source is 2.0, there is no discrete LFE channel in the audio signal for the subwoofer. You receiver and subwoofer will have to be configured to set their own configured use for the subwoofer, based on audio frequencies, regardless of (=overriding) the presence of an LFE channel in the signal. See your manuals for the audio equipment, and/or user groups with intimate knowledge of this specific equipment.

There is no configuration for this on Apple TV. It will have to be configured on the receiver and/or subwoofer.

There are a few things that could be causing your subwoofer not to work when playing music on your Apple TV.

  1. Make sure that your subwoofer is turned on and connected to your receiver correctly. Check the power cord and all of the connections to make sure they are secure.
  2. Check the settings on your receiver. Make sure that the subwoofer is set to the correct input and that the crossover frequency is set correctly.
  3. Check the settings on your Apple TV. Make sure that the audio output is set to "Dolby Digital" or "DTS".
  4. Try restarting your Apple TV and your receiver. This can sometimes fix minor software issues.

If you have tried all of these things and your subwoofer is still not working, you may need to contact the manufacturer of your subwoofer for further assistance.

I hope this helps!
