Mac running Ventura can no longer use network shares on an Airport Extreme

Recently, on or after 27 May 23, my Time Machine on a MacBook Air running Ventura 13.4 stopped being able to use an Airport Extreme network share as a backup destination.

The previous (to 27 May) backups for this system on the network share are encrypted. They are still good. The share can be mounted with the Finder and the Sparse Bundle holding the backups can be opened. Further, the Finder will show the Enter Time Machine button for the opened Sparse Bundle. Time Machine will show the top level folders and the backup selector. Folders can be navigated and files can be selected and restored.

Is anyone running Ventura and using an Airport Extreme network share as a Time Machine destination?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.2
