My granddaughters ipad will not open. . We sent her broken one back and now have her new one . The password that opened her iPad will not work on new one . What do we do?

I was able to connect her iPad to my PC (iTunes) and enter it into Recovery Mode, then do an Update or Restore. I chose Update. After the update downloaded to her device, the screen went black, then the Apple logo and the following message, "iPad Unavailable, try again in 7hr 15m." Will I be able to get into her iPad after this time period has expired?? What will be the next step in this process? Also, I made the mistake in changing her password on iCloud thinking it would sync to her device not realizing it wasn't the password but the passcode that was the issue. Double jeopardy....am hoping I can use her old password which s/b on her device still. Thoughts/suggestions? Thanks.

iPad Unavaliable try again in an hour. Bought this iPad Air early last summer and hardly used it at all. It started by asking for password, which I put in, but probably the wrong one. It gave me an 8 minute wait to try again, which I did with another password, but that didn't work either, so now I have a whole hour to wait. How can I get in and start using my new toy?

Reset the iPad, and then restore the most recent backup:
