Does AppleCare + cover the Apple Pencil?

Good evening,

I have a 2nd generation Apple Pencil and have had apple care on my current iPad Pro 12.9 m2 and all prior. I believe I purchased it with my 2020 iPad Pro 12?

I once read that coverage included the Apple Pencil I thought? I can’t find where I saw it, but it’s just my battery that needs replacing I imagine?

is it covered in the crazy apple careplus? Let me guess, I would have to pay? It’s always been hard to understand how a company can convince the public that their products are great while also saying they might not last more than 12 months. Oh, you can pay monthly, while covered already, towards the cost of covering the possible failure of the device. I did own the first flaming iPhone which I had to throw into the bathtub and the white plastic melted, warped and disfigured laptop, so I pay it. Slow down . Every 3 to 4 years before new products are launched should be the law. Warranty included 3-5 years because products will naturally be better.

Per Apple: Every iPad comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary technical support. AppleCare+ extends your iPad, Apple Pencil, and Apple‑branded iPad keyboard coverage and includes unlimited incidents of accidental damage protection. Each incident is subject to a service fee of $49 for iPad and $29 for Apple Pencil or Apple‑branded iPad keyboard, plus applicable tax.1 In addition, you’ll get 24/7 priority access to Apple experts by chat or phone.

Per Apple: The Plan covers the following equipment (collectively, the “Covered Equipment”): (i) the Apple TV, Apple Watch, HomePod, iPad (including an Apple Pencil and an Apple-branded iPad keyboard to be used with your iPad, referred to as “iPad Input Devices”), iPhone, iPod, or the Apple- or Beats- branded headphones listed on your Plan Confirmation (“Covered Device”), and (ii) the accessories contained inside the original packaging of your Covered Device.

In short, check your particular AppleCare Configuration coverage document. If Pencil is listed there, it should be covered with a deductible.

Above is derived from the current US webpage and coverage documentation, and details and coverage may vary in other regions and countries.

2nd question:

I know I saw it somewhere, maybe they once did it? Perhaps the Pencil had to have been bought at the same time? Wait, maybe it’s Verizon that does this?? I Also have Verizon coverage, dumb I know, but then I have options and longer coverage.

So, if not covered by apple while owning a iPad Pro with apple care plus, where can I get the battery replaced in this 2nd generation one? I remembered that I had to replace one that stopped working within the first year, so this one is newer than I thought.

Does Apple replace batteries in them? I hate making calls. Do I have to just buy another? How can I see how much the battery has declined. I have a couple backup stylus for periods when charging but I don’t want to stop at all.

I imagine that a third Apple Pencil will be released soon, if not tomorrow? With just enough new features to make me want it.
