I too am having issues with CarPlay connectivity ever since updating to IOS 16.5. Worked fine the day before updating and now can’t use any steering wheel buttons to control and sometimes just won’t connect at all. Very frustrating. This is NOT a Toyota issue, this is clearly from the Apple update! Please fix!

This is what I did to Fix my disconnect problem. Has worked for a few days no issues.
It will cost about $60-80usd. Returnable through amazon.
Buy a bluetooth wireless CarPlay transmitter.
I know it sounds stupid to think it will work, because the transmitter still plugs into the USBa on the console. But it worked for my wired CarPlay on my 2022 Toyota Rav4, transmitted to my iPhone 12 running 16.6.
Now I have wireless Apple CarPlay, which works with my bluetooth and connects when I start the car.
Anyone who has read the entire thread knows that I tried everything including an entire system restore on the phone.
I spent a day on the phone with Toyota resetting the multi media.
I had about 3 calls on the phone with apple sending them logs and system failure records etc.
my phone works in other cars, and other phones work in my car. this was the only way to get my phone to work in my car.
They said they know about the problem, and there's nothing they can do until new software hopefully addresses it.
That's it for me. If it eventually fails I'll post back, otherwise, this is how I fixed my CarPlay issues.

Has anyone tried to reach to Toyota? This should be a known problem by now. They should be able to confirm the problem and a possibly workaround.
The only way to resolve the issue is to get a bluetooth transmitter from amazon, mentioned above. Apple knows the issue is on their end, they are aware, and it's unknown when it will be resolved.
I'm having this issue now since I updated my iOS. Before I "forget this car" and re-sync, wondering if you had any success with that? Thanks!
I have a CH-R and it’s happening. Definitely not a Rav 4 only thing.
apple has not fixed the connectivity to CarPlay issue, even with the IOS 17.0.3
Check out a Bluetooth transmitter, sold on Amazon.
I got one and it works fine again.

Same thing is happening to our Rav4 Hybrid 2022. Apple CarPlay reboots every 60 to 75 seconds and sometimes even sooner than that. Also, controls on the steering wheel do not work, unless we turn the radio on and off.
This can be a very dangerous issue when driving as it can be distracting when driving and not able to see Maps for directions.
I am hoping this gets fixed soon, because it very annoying.

The thought of carplay controlling the entire dashboard is terrifying. This is far from the first time I've had stability problems with carplay. Imagine needing to hard reset your dashboard in the middle of your commute. This is the exact dumb joke people used to make about "what if Microsoft designed your car" except it's Apple!
I am having the same issue with the version of iOS only in Toyota CarPlay. The Honda CRV rental I had last week was fine but I want to be able to use the functions in MY vehicle. Apple, fix this please!
Agreed on all accounts! Very frustrating. I used to love using carplay and now it's an awful experience. I have a 2021 RAV4 with the JBL premium audio and I'm losing my mind.

My device has the updated 16.5.1(c) version of IOS. Unfortunately that didn't fix the issue as it is still doing the same disconnection/reconnection stuff it was doing before.
Had an issue the other day where I needed to use my GPS to find a business, but instead of being able to utilize my HUD, I had to hold my phone in my hand, looking at when to make turns and what streets to turn on. Very dangerous and inconvenient. Good thing I don't live in a state where you can get a ticket for having your device out while you are driving.
This is pretty pathetic on Apple's part that I have seen nothing about their response or intended fix to this issue.
I too updated to 16.6. Still not stable. Volume issues, disconnecting issues, Home Screen doesn’t display artist information when playing music and more. Glad I spent $1500 on new iPhone. Expensive paperweight when in car.
This post was so encouraging. I ordered the same exact WQQBFF wireless CarPlay device today and am hoping it solves the problem. A bummer to be an apple fan with a 2022 rav4 that can’t keep CarPlay going! I won’t like the lag, but I will like it WORKING. Thanks again. I’ll report back.
