Usually when you click on the blue "i" in Bluetooth settings you can turn the "Show Notifications" option on or off. With one of the recent iOS 16 updates this option has disappeared for me and I can no longer receive messages in my car's infotainment system. I have tried deleting on both car and phone and then repairing but to no avail. Has anybody experienced this, too?

This is not a helpful response. This feature worked for many people before the 16.4 update. This feature stopped working for many people after the 16.4 update (still not fixed on 17).
My car requires me to authorize messages being sent from my phone. I have an old iPhone 5s I got working on it. I got an Android working on it.
It doesn’t work because APPLE removed the feature that allows me to authorize messages to be sent from my phone to my car. This is something APPLE needs to fix.
Stop telling people to bring their car in, please. This is an Apple problem.

This has happened to me too. I wasn’t sure at first if it was the car or phone so I’ve bought an old Samsung Galaxy J5 second hand and it syncs messages no problem. I also checked an old iPhone I have and could see the “show notifications” toggle which is missing in the latest version of iOS.
It’s certainly nothing to to with the car Bluetooth system. I do hope this is not some safety related update as with my car messages will not display while the car is in motion and an option to read out the message is given.
I do hope apple will get this sorted soon as I do like my iPhone but with such a serious error in connectivity people will soon move to other systems that do work.
I no longer receive my texts on my car. Additionally, I no longer see ‘Show Notifications’ in the iPhone setting for my car’s Bluetooth connection. I do not know exactly when this happened. Many others, on the internet, have reported the same problem. It happens across different makes of car.
It’s definitely been caused by an IOS 16 update but Apple aren’t accepting responsibility for it. They even claimed the manufacturer,in this case Mercedes Benz, haven’t got their systems up to date to cater for the Apple IOS update ???? I’ve reset and restored my iPhone 14 and reset the head unit in the car with no success. It’s pretty pointless exploring other avenues as the answer lies with Apple and they won’t do anything about it
No it has not. Even updating phone it still has not reappeared

Was this ever resolved? I was able to view received TXT messages sent to me in my Land Rover Discovery until earlier this year. I now get txt messages no available searches various sites. Appears the solution is to check notifications in the discovery device in BT, hover option isn’t displayed.
Just bought a 2024 Honda HR-V the only way I can receive text messages is if I’m in CarPlay. Previously I had a 2020 Toyota CH-R I had no problem receiving text. They came right across my screen. So is it the car or the phone? I’m pretty disappointed with Honda and their screen size and the functions on it and to have the bigger screen and a cord free CarPlay you have to buy the more expensive car my Toyota. CHR gave me all the amenities on my very large screen. So I guess my question is is it the car because it worked fine on my Toyota very frustrating.
Which car model is this? Please get the Car audio checked by a reputed authorized car dealer.
I found this on a Tesla site, I’ll try it although I have no idea what they mean by “repair” whether it relates to the car system or the phone
