Remove Apple TV ‘now playing’ control panel shown on lock screen. iPhone 14 pro max

Whenever there is something playing on my Apple TV, the Control Panel for Apple TV automatically appears on iPhone and iPad lock screen. Usually I would change the Now Playing source to iPhone/iPad to clear the Controls from the lock screen however this method no longer works on iPhone 14 pro max. It does still work on my iPad Pro running iOS 16.

I believe that controls box is now part of live activities, and have tried a number of solutions, such as removing remote control from control centre, turning off live activities on Lock Screen however nothing I’ve tried has resolved the issue. I’m waiting for support to find a solution or whether this is by design. I would like to remove the control box when I don’t want to it there. With other live activities, you can swipe them off your screen and bring them back if needed.

Open "Control Center" by swiping from top right. Press and hold "Now Playing" widget, click bottom "Control Other Speakers & TVs" Click the top "iPhone Not Playing". Exit and it should be gone from your Lock Screen now.

I use my 2 HomePod minis in a paired stereo configuration to act as a "soundbar" and I was experiencing the same issue. This worked for me:

  1. Go into the Home app
  2. Press the HomePod mini button
  3. Press the Settings (gear) icon in the bottom right corner
  4. Scroll down until you see the Status and Notifications button and press it
  5. Switch the Notifications toggle off

Nothing described here worked for me. It usually shows up after I have used AirPlay or CarPlay and then switch to a local app and play audio like in News app. What did work as a workaround was opening music app and playing song on iPhone speaker for second and then closing music completely. Lock Screen widget now gone. (Until next time I use airplay)

well…. A couple of work arounds (horrible… not ideal but…)

1.- Turn off Bluetooth in your iPhone.

2.- Turn off airplay in your Apple TV.

Second one is what I did since I rarely use airplay to stream to my TV… but I have a couple of HomePods as stereo speakers(paired with the AppleTV) and I can’t reproduce music using “transfer to HomePod) feature… so yeah… one way or another it’s messed up 😂

This need to be fixed. I never had this issue before switching to my new 15 pro this is so f-ing annoying. I hate for mostly aesthetic reasons but i also dont want or think this should be on here. Who tf asked for this? A more productive use of time would be to fix the email app from immediately backing out of edit mode after one email action. 😡😤🤬😡😤😡😡😡😡😤
