Remove Apple TV ‘now playing’ control panel shown on lock screen. iPhone 14 pro max

Whenever there is something playing on my Apple TV, the Control Panel for Apple TV automatically appears on iPhone and iPad lock screen. Usually I would change the Now Playing source to iPhone/iPad to clear the Controls from the lock screen however this method no longer works on iPhone 14 pro max. It does still work on my iPad Pro running iOS 16.

I believe that controls box is now part of live activities, and have tried a number of solutions, such as removing remote control from control centre, turning off live activities on Lock Screen however nothing I’ve tried has resolved the issue. I’m waiting for support to find a solution or whether this is by design. I would like to remove the control box when I don’t want to it there. With other live activities, you can swipe them off your screen and bring them back if needed.

Open "Control Center" by swiping from top right. Press and hold "Now Playing" widget, click bottom "Control Other Speakers & TVs" Click the top "iPhone Not Playing". Exit and it should be gone from your Lock Screen now.

This is a huge violation of privacy. Any app can bypass all settings and configurations by placing content into the dynamic island. Without a way of restricting this content, I am seriously thinking of switching back to Android. The violation of my right to decide what content is on my screen, is egregious and unacceptable.

Correct , this doesn't work for me. I should have mentioned I have my apple home pod mini as the speaker source for my Apple TV. I never had this issue before until this new iPhone 15pro or maybe the iOS? when the Apple TV and accompanying, home pod is playing as the speaker for said Apple tv it shows on my iPhone, on Locked Screen, I DO NOT WANT that.

help anyone?

For anyone interested I contacted Apple support and after being sent to level two, I was told this is how it's designed, and iOS 17 will be fixing it.

The “architect” that designed it in such way must live alone or under a rock.

Once again… it shouldn’t be that complicated to dismiss such feature with a toggle control under settings unless the implementation is a mess….

Anyways…

I’ve also checked Apple TV settings, and the only thing that turns off the controls on iPhone is turning off AirPlay on Apple TV settings.. However, this is not a solution as it means I can’t mirror anything to Apple TV. Furthermore, what’s even more annoying is when someone else is mirroring to Apple TV. The control box comes up on my devices as well, and again, unable to remove it from iPhone lock screen

This is just one of many many many examples of how the quality of iOS has deteriorated over the last few years.

If I’m in another room on Instagram on my phone and I try to turn up the volume on my iPhone, the TV in the living room starts blaring. It’s the most useless and annoying feature ever.

you should only be able to control TV volume if you actively select it or are in the remote app.

how many times have we had Major releases of iOS with very few new features as they were intended as “quality and bug fix releases”, yet here we are on 17 and it’s even worse.

another infuriating example - disconnecting from CarPlay and the Music widget is still on my Lock Screen even though the music app isn’t open. Only way to dismiss it is to unlock phone, open music, swipe up and close music. It’s insane.

iOS needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

I think they have added an option to dismiss this. Settings > General > Air drop & Handoff > Automatically AirPlay

Select “Never”

If there was a control panel shown before applying this setting, just change the device under “Control Other Speakers & TV’s”.

From now on, you shouldn’t see what’s playing on your Apple TV
