Question MacBook Pro M2 with Anker USB-C hub dual monitors

Hi all,

So due to change of work position I've also changed the laptop from Lenovo t15 to MacBook Pro M2 which I'm trying to run with an Anker USB-C hub for dual monitors, USB devices and LAN cable.

Everything works as expected except the second monitor which is only available as a duplicate screen of first external monitor (I suppose thats the default behaviour without any change of settings).

When I check my display settings the second monitor is not on the display list... If I unplug it from the hub and plug it in via HDMI directly into the MacBook it shows in the settings and works as extended display. On the old Lenovo everything worked out of the box as it is supposed to with this Anker hub.

Any ideas?

Monitors are:

ASUS VG248QE

AOC 24G2

Are we talking about a 13" MacBook Pro, with a M2 processor? Or a 14"/16" MacBook Pro, with a M2 Pro or M2 Max processor?

The 13" model only supports one external display.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, M2, 2022) - Technical Specifications

The 14" and 16" models support multiple displays. The M2 Max models are more capable than the M2 Pro ones, but all of them have sufficient dual-monitor support to qualify for Thunderbolt 4 certification.

I don't know off-hand whether the 14" and 16" models support daisy-chaining two displays off of the same port. But if we're talking about a 13" MBP, the issue is simply that there's no support for having two external monitors.

Hi thanks for reply.

As far as the docs are concerned I should be able to have dual monitors as 60hz over thunderbolt USB-c? Also I am in fact able to get two monitors working via USB-c and hub but only in duplicate and not extended mode.

Unfortunately, my displays do not have USB-C ports, which is why I am using a hub. The setup I've tried involves connecting one display directly to my MacBook using HDMI, and connecting the USB-C hub to the USB-C port. This configuration works well, but it can be a bit bothersome when switching between my Windows PC and MacBook setups.
