Minecraft crashes on startup

Hello, for about a month now, when my two sons attempt to play Minecraft it crashes on startup. The same second the screen brings up the options to select play, settings, or marketplace, the game crashes. There is no chance to do anything. If I turn off the wifi connection on their devices (remove access to internet) the game works fine. The iPads are fully updated as are the games. I have gone through and closed all other apps, deleted apps and saved data/pictures to open several GB of storage space on both devices (in excess of 16 GB on both). This does not occur on my iPad.

This is extremely frustrating for us. My sons love to play Minecraft together and without connection to the shared WiFi, they cannot.

Hey Ibnalnoor,

Great job on the troubleshooting you’ve already accomplished. The only troubleshooting step that’s missing is deleting and reinstalling the Minecraft app:

Delete app: Remove apps from iPad - Apple Support

Restart iPad: Restart your iPad - Apple Support

Reinstall app: Redownload apps and games from Apple - Apple Support

If Minecraft still quits, we noticed that iPadOS is listed near the top of your post. iPadOS 16.5 is the current iPadOS version. If either of your son’s devices need updating, here’s how: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support.

If either iPad needed updating, also update the Minecraft app and test the issue: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support

If it’s still not working after that, you’ll need to contact the app developer to look into this with you: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

All the best.
