"End of My Photo Stream" Email (Legit)

I received a suspicious email that appears to be from Apple about the end of "My Photo Stream" without any news of such across multiple platforms (news organizations, Google News, Internet Cyber news/links, etc.

With all the Phishing/Scam emails that we are hit with regularly, what's the best way to verify news related to Apple such as this 'end of service'? Additionally, are there any published instructions to assist users with older "My Photo Stream" accounts for making sure old photos are not lost? I was not comfortable using any of the links in the suspicious email.
