That's not true and paranoia. Apple is not reading your emails. They won't delete your emails. They can't delete your emails. Only you can read and delete your emails IF you grant iOS access to your accounts.
There is truly no platform, which protects your data better than iOS.
Well, if iOS can’t read your emails how can it display the contents of the emails to you?
Outlook will do the same thing, as will any other email client. They're all set up to request access in order to finish setting up your Gmail account.
Well that would make sense. Especially, since you changed your gmail account password.
I hope we've given you peace of mind.
Yes, I now believe it has something to do with privacy issues. I did come across something online which explained apple and others now have to state that request to the user whereas in the past they had been accessing the account all along.
Sorry, I didn’t make my statement clear. You are right that only I can read, delete my emails. What I meant to state was that I have to allow iOS access so that I can perform those actions regarding my account.
I’m new at this support discussion and apologize for my lack of expertise. I just want to say that my problem occurred when I changed my Gmail password. I was using the Gmail app, but also had my Gmail account in the Mail app. The Mail app was prompting me to re-enter my password and when I did, it then prompted me to select the button “allow” in order for iOS to read, delete, my emails. The prompt didn’t make it clear that I would be the one doing it. It was very puzzling and concerning as you would guess.
I should have included that Apple‘s iOS wanted access to read, delete etc. my emails. That was what concerned me but it is something they had been doing all along.
That's correct. If you don't enter the correct mail credentials in the mail app, you won't see, be able to respond to, or be able to delete email.
Yes, you all have. I’m glad to know I can search for answers here in the future whenever I have a concern.
The above scenario happened to me , now I don't recieve my gmail on the phone .
Can you please provide more information? Are you trying to add your Gmail account to the Apple Mail app? If so, then yes, Apple will need information about that account in order to bring that email to the app where you may read it. If I am guessing wrong, please describe the circumstance where Apple is trying to access your Gmail account.
