Change Payment Method

I have to Change My Payment Method. When I followed the instructions below, I got stuck on #4 - “Add Payment Method” was grayed out (not available).

Why? I’m logged in to iCloud. Thanks


  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Tap Payment & Shipping. You might be asked to sign in with your Apple ID.
  4. Tap Add Payment Method, enter the new payment method, then tap Done.

If an app or feature on your device is not working or is restricted (grayed out), it may have been disabled using Screen Time, or by an IT administrator if you are using a device owned by an employer or educational institution.

- Read this document about using Screen Time on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch --> Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Tap Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy > scroll to Allow Changes.

- If the device is managed (Settings > General > VPN & Device Management), contact the IT department that is doing the managing.

I solved it: I had to update Settings, iCloud, Payment on my husband’s iPhone first, then the credit card change appeared on my iPhone. I only then had to verify the CVV code on my phone to have the change be made. I’m guessing this had to happen in this sequence due to us using Family Sharing …? Anyway, fixed.
