I paid $30k for a computer a year ago… with the promise of it being upgradeable.
jjohnstone – Most of the people who participate in this forum are customers, helping other customers. If you're looking for an official Apple response, a user-to-user forum is an odd place to look for it.
Note that the M2 Ultra Mac Pros top out at 192 GB of RAM. If your Intel Mac Pro has 768 GB of RAM – and you are running the sort of specialized applications that actually need that much RAM – the M2 Ultra Mac Pro might not be the right fit for you.
Then why did I get an email from Apple this morning talking about the new M2 Ultra Mac Pro?

The announced product is a replacement for your Mac Pro 2019 model, not an upgrade kit.
to upgrade, convert your Mac Pro 2019 to CASH (by selling it) and buy the new M2 version as a replacement.

Try to Trade In of your Mac Pro for purchasing new Mac Pro.
In some use cases, the M2 pro is not a good option. The ram limitation is not good. An upgrade kit, would be easy to design and could have been completed in store.
