What is the best way to charge to protect life of the battery on a mackbook?

I've read that one would not keep one's adapter plugged in after the computer is fully charged.

also:

Yes, in fact if you want to preserve your battery's life as much as possible, you should leave it plugged in as much as possible. Your MacBook Pro has circuitry to protect the battery from over or

undercharging. So you never have to worry about leaving it plugged in

too much, or even leaving it unplugged too long.

Charge it when you need to, use it on battery when you need to and let the battery take care of itself. The charging circuitry is far better at micromanaging itself that any human will ever be.

It's not injurious to leave it plugged in; the battery circuitry will take care of the battery.
